  • Original Title: Maximum Pleasure

Extravagantly expensive massaging mats, rejuvenating ampoules and sets of steam pots are only a few of the vast spectrum of objects sold by young salesmen at suspicious commercial presentations for old-age pensioners. Protagonists of the film are five friends fascinated by such presentations. They spend their savings on such products not out of necessity, but in the attempt to fill the emptiness in their lives. The absurdity of these purchases shows their fight against getting old and against their loneliness.

Maximum pleasure, the pleasant side of beating old age

Four polish pensioners are addicted to buying miraculous beauty treatments, exercise equipment at home, automatic massage beds and other such products.

All of them defend the benefits of these objects as if they themselves did them. Defending the body against the ups and downs of the old age seems to be a daily motivation in their lives.

In an observational approach full of humor and quotodian moments, director Katarzyna Trzaska brings together these picturesque women to build a documentary that rests on seemingly superficial conversations.

Ironically, the dialogues only reveal the underground conflict: the intrinsic loneliness and boredom that comes with the autum of their lives.
