Guzmán García is a Mexican film director and screenwriter. He is mostly known for his work in the thriller genre, and for his films that explore the Mexican culture.

García was born and raised in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. He discovered his passion for filmmaking at an early age, while playing with his father’s Super 8 camera. He also developed an interest in literature, which led him to study a degree in Communications and Cultural Studies at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.

After graduating, García began working as a screenwriter for various television projects. His first feature film, “La Lengua Encendida”, was an adaptation of a novel by the same name and was released in 2002. It was well-received by critics and viewers alike, and won numerous awards at film festivals.

García then went on to direct his first feature film, “Día de Muertos”, in 2006. The movie was a unique blend of horror and comedy, and was highly praised for its originality. It was nominated for an Ariel Award, Mexico’s equivalent of the Oscars.

Since then, García has continued to write and direct films that explore the Mexican culture. His films often tackle issues such as corruption, poverty, and violence. He has also been vocal about his support for the LGBTQ+ community, and was the first Mexican director to make a film with a transgender protagonist.

In 2019, García released his latest feature film, “La Noche de las Bestias”. It was a horror movie set in a small Mexican village, and it was met with critical acclaim. He is currently working on a new project, a crime drama set in Mexico City.
