In the aftermath of the Somali civil war, Qaali endured the heart-wrenching loss of her brother and several family members, compelling her into exile in Uganda. Now residing in the shadows of Kampala's slums, Qaali, a resilient single mother of seven, grapples daily with the remnants of trauma and the weight of asthma. Each day, she pushes through her ailments to work at a local restaurant, desperate to feed her children. Although haunted by limitations, unable to afford education for her children or the medication she urgently needs, the semblance of peace in Uganda remains a sanctuary for Qaali and her family, a world apart from the horrors they fled in Somalia.
