An old mother and her middle-aged daughter, the aunt and cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, live their eccentric lives in a filthy, decaying mansion in East Hampton.

Grey Gardens

Risking everything in the name of art, being left without inheritance and the abandonment of the father and husband of two women were the three key factors which made that two highborn ladies –direct family of the Kennedys- ended up living among the piss of 300 cats and mountains of garbage. (You must admit that you didn’t expect that end).

Held for years at their mansion at East Hampton in New York, Edith Bouvier, mother (80 years old) and daughter (60), got to the bottom of human degradation in very poor living conditions. It’s a documentary as hard as decadent, direct and real. A masterpiece of observational documentary.
