Agustina Comedi is an Argentine documentary filmmaker who has created numerous projects that explore the intersections of politics, art, and culture. She has become known for her work that uses a unique, independent approach to explore the complexities of our world.

Comedi was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1978. She began her career as a journalist and documentary filmmaker in 2002, producing her first documentary, “Granito de Arena” (Grain of Sand). The film, which focused on the struggles of a working-class family, was well-received and was selected for the Venice Film Festival.

In 2005, Comedi released her second film, “La Vida Después” (Life After), which explored the lives of women who had been victims of domestic violence. The film was an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Prix du Meilleur Documentaire at the Festival International du Film de Femmes in France.

In 2007, Comedi released her third film, “Isla 10” (Island 10). This film explored the lives of a group of Argentine immigrants who were living in the United States. The film was an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival and won the Grand Jury Prize at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival.

In 2010, Comedi released her fourth film, “En Nombre de la Tierra” (In the Name of the Earth), which examined the struggles of rural communities in Argentina. The film was an official selection at the Berlin International Film Festival and won the Golden Bear for Best Documentary.

In 2014, Comedi released her fifth film, “De la Libertad a la Muerte” (From Freedom to Death), which examined the life and work of Argentine journalist and activist Rodolfo Walsh. The film was an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival and won the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Comedi’s body of work has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including the Guggenheim Fellowship in Documentary Filmmaking and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History Award for Excellence in Film.
