Andrey Gryazev is a Russian-born film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor. He was born in Moscow on August 18, 1976.
Gryazev began his career in the late 1990s, working as an assistant director on several projects. His first major directing job was for the television series “Vechera na khutore bliz Dikanki” (Nights at the Country Estate Near Dikanka) in 1998. He then directed a series of short films, including “Priklyucheniya Tishki” (Tishka’s Adventures) in 2000.
In 2003, Gryazev made his feature film directorial debut with the drama “Vstrecha” (The Meeting), which he wrote and produced as well. The film gained critical acclaim and won several awards, including Best Film at the Moscow International Film Festival.
Gryazev’s next feature film, “Kochegar” (The Fireman), was released in 2006. It was a box office hit and was nominated for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. He followed this success with “Tulpan” (2008) and “Pust Pobeda” (2010).
In 2012, Gryazev wrote, directed, and produced the acclaimed drama “Kazhdyy Den” (Every Day). It was a box office success and was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.
Gryazev’s latest feature film, “Zov” (The Call) was released in 2014. It was a box office success and was nominated for the Best Screenplay award at the Moscow International Film Festival.
Gryazev has also acted in several films and television series, including “Dvoynoy Portret” (Double Portrait) in 2006 and “Kak ya stal russkim” (How I Became Russian) in 2010.
In addition to his film work, Gryazev is an avid photographer and has had numerous exhibitions of his work. He has also written several books, including his memoir “Kak ya stal rezhisserom” (How I Became a Director) in 2009.
