Annelie Boros is an award-winning film director, writer, and producer. Born in Berlin, Germany, she studied film and television at the University of Television and Film Munich. Her work has been featured in festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival, Berlinale, and the Toronto International Film Festival.

Annelie’s debut feature film, The Forest of Glass, premiered at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival and won the Gold Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival. Her second feature, The Sound of Silence, premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival to much critical acclaim.

Annelie’s directing style has been described as “visually striking, emotionally charged, and often darkly humorous.” Her films are often deeply personal, exploring themes of identity, family, and the human experience. Despite their heavy subject matter, her films tend to have a lightness to them that make them accessible to a broad range of viewers.

Annelie often works with a small and close-knit team of producers, writers, and actors. She is known for her collaborative approach to her filmmaking, as well as her willingness to take risks and push boundaries. She often works with non-professional actors and draws on her own experiences in her films.

Annelie is committed to creating opportunities for women in the film industry. She is currently the president of the Women in Film & Television International (WIFTI) and is a vocal advocate for gender parity in the film industry. She is also the founder of the Annelie Boros Film Initiative, an organization that provides grants and workshops to women filmmakers.

Annelie has been recognized for her work with numerous awards including the Cinema for Peace International Green Award, the German Human Rights Film Award, and the Women in Film & Television International Award for Best Feature Film.
