Bettina Perut is an award-winning Chilean director and film producer, known for her documentaries and feature films. She has been actively working in the Chilean film industry since the early 2000s.
Perut grew up in Santiago, Chile, and began her career as a film editor. In 2001, she began working on documentaries, and her first feature-length documentary, “The End of Time”, was released in 2005. The film was well-received, and earned her a nomination for the Best Documentary award at the Chilean Academy of Cinema and Television.
In 2008, Perut released her first feature film, “Violeta Went to Heaven”. The film tells the story of the Chilean singer and folklorist Violeta Parra, and was nominated for Best Film at the Chilean Academy of Cinema and Television.
Perut continued to make documentaries and feature films, and in 2010, she released “The Young and the Wild”, which won the Audience Award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. The film follows the lives of a group of teenagers in Santiago, and examines Chilean society through the lens of the characters’ experiences.
In 2013, Perut released “La Once”, which tells the story of a Jewish family living in Santiago during the Pinochet dictatorship. The film was nominated for the Goya Award for Best Latin American Film.
Perut has also worked as a producer on a number of films, including “The Return” (2013), “The Summer of Sangaile” (2015) and “Killer” (2017).
Throughout her career, Perut has been praised for her commitment to telling stories that explore Chilean culture and society. Her films have earned numerous awards and nominations, and she has been recognized by the Chilean Academy of Cinema and Television and the San Sebastian International Film Festival.
