Derek

Bo Derek is an iconic American actress, model and film producer, best known for her breakthrough role in the 1979 romantic comedy 10. Born Mary Cathleen Collins in Long Beach, California in 1956, she adopted the nickname "Bo" from her brother's mispronunciation of "Bow" when she was a toddler. Bo Derek began her professional career as a model, appearing in numerous magazines and television commercials. At the age of 16, she landed a minor role in the 1976 drama film, Young Blood, which marked her debut as an actress.

After her role in Young Blood, Derek went on to become an international star thanks to her role in the 1979 comedy 10. Directed by legendary filmmaker Blake Edwards, 10 saw Derek play the role of Jenny Hanley, the love interest of middle-aged composer George Webber (Dudley Moore). Her performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best New Star of the Year, and the film was a massive hit, grossing over $90 million at the box office.

In addition to her acting career, Derek has also starred in and produced several films, including Bolero (1984), Tarzan, the Ape Man (1981) and Ghosts Can't Do It (1989). She has also appeared in several television shows, including the sitcom Friends, and served as a judge on the reality competition series Superstars of Dance.

In 2010, Derek released her autobiography, Riding Lessons: Everything That Matters in Life I Learned from Horses. The book was a best-seller and earned her a nomination for the Goodreads Choice Awards.

Derek has been married to actor John Corbett since 2002, and the couple currently lives in California. Despite her success, Derek remains humble, saying: “I never intended to be an actress.
