BIO

Caio Baú is an award-winning Brazilian film director and screenwriter. Born in São Paulo in 1983, he developed an early interest in film and storytelling, inspired by classic films such as Citizen Kane and The Godfather. After graduating from college with a degree in film direction, Baú began his professional career directing short films and music videos.

In 2011, Baú made his feature film debut with the critically acclaimed drama “O Céu de Suely”, which won numerous awards, including the Grand Prize at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival. The film tells the story of a young girl who moves to a small rural town in Brazil in search of a better life, and her struggles with her newfound identity. The film earned Baú a nomination for Best Director at the Sao Paulo Film Critics Association Awards.

In 2013, Baú directed his second feature film, “A Noite do Meu Bem”, which tells the story of a family struggling to cope with the death of their father. The film was awarded the Jury Prize at the Festival de Brasília, and Baú was nominated for Best Director at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival.

In 2015, Baú directed his third feature film, “O Filme da Minha Vida”, a drama about a young man who is struggling to reconcile his dreams with his reality. The film received the Grand Prize at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival and earned Baú another Best Director nomination at the Sao Paulo Film Critics Association Awards.

In 2018, Baú directed his fourth feature film, “A Vida Invisível”, a drama about two sisters, one of whom is a transgender woman. The film was awarded the Grand Jury Prize at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, and Baú was nominated for Best Director at the Sao Paulo Film Critics Association Awards.

Baú’s films have garnered widespread critical acclaim, and he has received numerous awards and nominations for his work.
