Carl Gough is an American film and television director and producer. He has been involved in the entertainment industry since the early 1990s, and is best known for his work on the popular television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the hit film Avatar.
Gough was born in Palo Alto, California in 1967. He attended Palo Alto High School and then went on to study film at UCLA. After graduating, he began his career as an assistant director on the television series Northern Exposure. From there, Gough went on to work on the hit series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, directing several episodes during its seven-season run.
In 2004, Gough made his feature film directorial debut with the horror-thriller Darkness Falls. The film was a box-office success, and Gough went on to direct The Cave (2005) and Ghost Rider (2007). In 2009, Gough directed James Cameron’s epic science fiction film Avatar, which went on to become the highest-grossing film of all time.
Gough has also directed episodes of several popular television series, including The X-Files, Lost, Fringe, The Killing, and House of Cards. He has also produced several films, including The Cave and The Last Mimzy.
In addition to his work in the entertainment industry, Gough is an avid surfer and has been involved in several surfing charities. He has also been an advocate for the adoption of sustainable practices in filmmaking.
Gough currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children. He continues to work in the film and television industry, producing and directing a variety of projects. He is also an active member of the Directors Guild of America.
