Charley Steiner is an American sports broadcaster who is best known for his work in play-by-play announcing for ESPN and Fox Sports. Steiner was born in New York City on July 22, 1948. He grew up in the Bronx and attended the Bronx High School of Science. After high school, he attended Syracuse University, where he earned a degree in communications.

Steiner began his broadcasting career in the 1970s, working on local radio stations in New York. He eventually moved to Los Angeles, where he worked at KLAC and KABC. In 1986, Steiner joined ESPN, where he became a regular sports anchor and reporter. He was best known for his work on SportsCenter, where he provided highlights and commentary on a daily basis.

In 1998, Steiner left ESPN to join Fox Sports, where he provided play-by-play announcing for baseball, football, and basketball games. He was the lead voice for Fox's Major League Baseball coverage from 1998 to 2006, and he also provided play-by-play for Fox's NFL coverage from 2006 to 2011. He was a popular announcer, and his signature catchphrase "Let's get ready to rumble!" became a popular phrase among sports fans.

In addition to his work in broadcasting, Steiner has also worked as an author. He released two books, Charley Steiner's Tales from the Booth in 1998 and Charley Steiner's Adventures in Broadcasting in 2005. He also wrote a weekly column for ESPN.com for several years.

In 2011, Steiner returned to ESPN, where he works as a play-by-play announcer for college football and baseball games. He is also a regular contributor to ESPN Radio and a regular guest on ESPN's Mike and Mike in the Morning.

Outside of his broadcasting career, Steiner is an avid golfer and a member of the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. He also serves on the board of directors for the Baseball Assistance Team, a charity that helps former baseball players in need.
