BIO

Dan Popa is an accomplished and award-winning director, cinematographer, and editor. The Romanian-born filmmaker has worked in the industry for more than a decade, creating captivating and thought-provoking films.

Popa was born and raised in Romania, where he graduated from the National University of Theater and Film in Bucharest. He then moved to Los Angeles to attend the American Film Institute Conservatory, where he earned his MFA in directing.

Since then, Popa’s career has taken off. His short films have been showcased in festivals throughout the world, including the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Berlinale. He has also directed music videos for major artists such as Rihanna, Wiz Khalifa, and the late Prince.

Popa’s feature film debut, The Rendezvous, was released in 2016. The film starred Stana Katic and was an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival. It was well-received by both critics and audiences alike, and won Popa the Best Director Award at the 2017 Austin Film Festival.

Popa’s most recent project is the critically acclaimed television series, The Romanoffs. The series was created, written, and directed by Matt Weiner, the creator of Mad Men.
