Danae Stylianou is a Greek film director, screenwriter, and producer. She is best known for writing and directing the award-winning film The Eternal Return of Antonis Paraskevas (2013), which won numerous awards at international film festivals, including a nomination for the European Film Awards.
Born in Athens, Greece in 1984, Stylianou graduated in film studies from the University of Athens. After completing her studies, she worked as an assistant director for several Greek films before writing and directing her first feature film, The Eternal Return of Antonis Paraskevas. This film was a critical and commercial success, winning awards at film festivals around the world and being nominated for the European Film Awards.
Following the success of her first feature, Stylianou wrote and directed two more feature films, The Red Lantern (2015) and Love in the Time of Seasonal Migration (2018). Love in the Time of Seasonal Migration was particularly successful, winning awards at the Berlin International Film Festival and being nominated for the Golden Bear.
In addition to her feature films, Stylianou has written and directed several short films, including the award-winning The Labyrinth of the Night (2015). She has also written and directed several television series, including the popular Greek series Antonis and Maria (2016-2018).
In recent years, Stylianou has become increasingly involved in activism, using her platform to speak out against inequality and discrimination. She is a vocal advocate for women’s rights and has been involved in numerous initiatives to promote gender equality.
