Dê Kelm (born November 12, 1958) is a Brazilian-born director and producer best known for his work in the film and television industry. He has directed episodes of several popular series, including "The Simpsons", "The X-Files", and "Futurama". He has been nominated for twenty-nine Primetime Emmy Awards and has won five.
Kelm began his career in the film and television industry in the early 1980s after graduating from the University of São Paulo in Brazil. He moved to the United States in 1988 and began working as a production assistant on the CBS series "Beauty and the Beast". He quickly rose through the ranks and was soon directing episodes of the show. In 1994, Kelm was hired to direct an episode of "The Simpsons". This was the start of a long and successful relationship with the show. He has since directed over forty episodes of "The Simpsons" and has been nominated for six Emmy awards for his work on the series.
In addition to his work on "The Simpsons", Kelm has directed episodes of numerous other series including "The X-Files", "Futurama", "CSI: Miami", "My Name Is Earl", and "24". He has also directed several feature films, including "Redemption" (2002), "State of Play" (2003), and "The Dilemma" (2011).
Kelm has been nominated for twenty-nine Primetime Emmy Awards for his work on various television shows and has won five. In 2002, he was honored with the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series for his work on "The X-Files".
Kelm is a passionate advocate for the representation of Brazilian filmmakers and their work in the United States. He has been actively involved in the Brazilian film festival circuit and has been a mentor to young filmmakers in the country.
Kelm is married to actress and director Maria Clara Spinelli. They have two children together. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
