Ellen Goosenberg Kent is an Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker and director. She is best known for her work in the HBO documentaries, including “Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1” and “The Alzheimer’s Project.”

Ellen was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended the University of Southern California, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in film production. After graduating, she worked as an assistant editor and editor for various television shows, including “The Wonder Years” and “Roseanne.”

In 1995, Ellen began her career as a documentary filmmaker. Her first film, “The Alzheimer’s Project,” was produced for HBO and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. The film was a success and earned her an Emmy Award.

In 2008, Ellen released her second film, “Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1.” The documentary chronicles the stories of veterans who have experienced mental health crises. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject and won an Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special.

In 2010, Ellen released her third documentary, “The Education of Dee Dee Ricks.” The film follows the story of a woman struggling with breast cancer and her journey to better health care. The film won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special.

Since then, Ellen has directed and produced several documentaries, including “The Homestretch,” which follows the lives of homeless youth in Chicago and “Hondros,” which tells the story of a war photographer.
