Ewa Smyk is a Polish director, screenwriter, and producer best known for her work in television, film, and theater. She has been involved in the production of numerous award-winning projects over the years, including the feature film ‘Czarne Czwartki’ (Black Thursdays) and the television series ‘Krakowiak’ and ‘Domowe Melodie’ (Home Melodies).
Smyk was born in Lodz, Poland, and began her career in the entertainment industry at a young age. She was an assistant director for theater and television in her early twenties, and then went on to direct her first feature film, ‘Czarne Czwartki’, in 1999. The film received critical acclaim and won several awards, including the Special Jury Prize at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

Smyk’s work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Best Director award at the Polish Film Festival and the Grand Prix for Best Feature Film at the Montreal International Film Festival. She has also been nominated for several awards, including the European Film Awards and the BAFTA Awards.
