BIO

Graeme Thomson is an award-winning film and television director, producer, and writer. He has worked in both feature films and television series, as well as documentaries, short films, and music videos.

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1970, Thomson studied at the University of Edinburgh before going on to work in television. His early credits include directing and producing work for the BBC and Channel 4 in the UK. He made his feature film debut with the critically acclaimed movie “The Edge of Love” (2008). Starring Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller, the film was nominated for several awards and won a BAFTA Scotland award for Best Feature Film.

In 2009, Thomson wrote and directed the television movie “The Right Hand Man” for the BBC. The film, based on the true story of a man falsely accused of terrorism, was nominated for several awards and won two BAFTA Scotland awards.

In 2010, Thomson wrote and directed his second feature film, “The Search for Simon.” The film tells the story of a young man who goes on a search for his long-lost brother. The film won several awards, including Best Feature Film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

In 2012, Thomson wrote and directed the television movie “The Great Train Robbery.” The movie tells the story of the Great Train Robbery of 1963 and was nominated for several awards.

In 2014, Thomson wrote and directed the feature film “The Last Witch Hunter,” starring Vin Diesel. The film was a box office success, grossing over $150 million worldwide.

In recent years, Thomson has focused on directing television series. He has directed episodes of the hit BBC series “Sherlock,” “Luther,” and “Peaky Blinders.” He has also directed episodes of the BBC series “Doctor Who,” “The Musketeers,” and “Taboo.”

Throughout his career, Thomson has received numerous awards and accolades. In 2009, he was awarded a BAFTA Scotland award for Outstanding Contribution to Film and TV. In 2014, he received a Scottish Bafta for Outstanding Contribution to Television.
