Guillermo García López is a Spanish film director, producer, and screenwriter who has been active in the film industry since the late 1990s. His films have won numerous awards at festivals such as the Madrid International Film Festival, the San Sebastian International Film Festival, and the Malaga Spanish Film Festival. He is best known for his films such as La Soledad, El Desconcierto, and La Vida es una Lotería.

Born in Madrid in 1971, García López studied Film at the University of Seville. After graduating, he worked as a production assistant on several Spanish films, including Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón’s El Bosque Animado. He then began directing his own films, beginning with the critically acclaimed short film, La Soledad. The film won awards at several international film festivals, and was later released as a feature film.

García López then wrote and directed his first feature film, El Desconcierto (2000), which was a critical and commercial success. The film follows the story of a young Spanish woman who is struggling to cope with the death of her mother.
