Heidi Specogna (b. 1967) is an award-winning Swiss director and screenwriter. She is best known for her critically acclaimed documentaries, which often tackle controversial topics.

Specogna was born in 1967 in Zurich, Switzerland. She began her career as a journalist, working for Swiss television and radio outlets. After graduating from the University of Zurich with a degree in philosophy, she began to pursue a career in film, studying at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB).

In 2002, she released her first feature-length documentary, the critically acclaimed "No Place to Go", about a group of exiled refugees. The film won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival and was nominated for the European Film Award.

Her next documentary, "Silvio and the Others" (2007), explored the legacy of a Swiss political scandal and featured interviews with prominent politicians. The film was nominated for several awards, including the German Film Award.

In 2010, Specogna released her third documentary, "The Silent Revolution". It followed a group of East German students who protested against the communist government in the 1950s. The film won the International Emmy for Best Documentary and was nominated for the German Film Award.

In 2014, Specogna released her fourth documentary, "Victim or Criminal?". It explored the controversial topic of female genital mutilation and won the German Human Rights Film Award.

Specogna's latest documentary, "The Long Shadow of the Little Giant" (2019) tells the story of a Swiss farmer who was convicted of murder in the 1970s and is now seeking to overturn his conviction. The film won the Special Jury Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival.
