Joshua M. Gibson is an American television and film director who has directed and produced several award-winning projects. He is best known for his work on the television series The Wire, and the feature films The Bank Job and The Lincoln Lawyer.
Gibson was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Detroit's Cass Technical High School, where he discovered his love for filmmaking. After graduating, he attended the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television Production.
Gibson's first feature film, The Bank Job, was released in 2008. The crime drama, starring Jason Statham, was a critical and commercial success, earning Gibson numerous accolades, including the Directors Guild of America Outstanding Directorial Achievement Award.
Gibson's next project was the film adaptation of the bestselling novel The Lincoln Lawyer. The gritty legal drama starred Matthew McConaughey and received rave reviews from critics.
Gibson then turned his attention to television, directing several episodes of the acclaimed HBO series The Wire. Gibson's work earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
