Márcio Picoli is an award-winning Brazilian film director, screenwriter, and producer. Born in São Paulo, Picoli began his career in the film industry in the early 1990s.

His first feature film, “A Paz de Deus” (The Peace of God), was released in 1994. The film was a critical and commercial success and won the Audience Award at the 1995 São Paulo International Film Festival.

In 1997, Picoli wrote and directed “O Espelho” (The Mirror), a drama about a man’s search for identity. The film was nominated for several awards and won the Best Actor and Best Screenplay awards at the 1997 São Paulo International Film Festival.

In 1999, Picoli directed “O Anjo” (The Angel), a story of redemption set in a small Brazilian town. The film won the Grand Prix at the 2000 São Paulo International Film Festival and was selected to represent Brazil at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival.

In 2002, Picoli wrote and directed “O Céu de Ipanema” (The Sky of Ipanema), a romantic drama set in Rio de Janeiro. The film was a critical and commercial success and won the Audience Award at the 2003 São Paulo International Film Festival.

In 2007, Picoli wrote and directed “O Segredo dos Anjos” (The Secret of the Angels), a fantasy film set in the Brazilian rainforest. The film was a critical and commercial success and won the Audience Award at the 2008 São Paulo International Film Festival.

In 2011, Picoli wrote and directed “O Sol do Norte” (The Sun of the North), a romantic drama set in the Amazon rainforest. The film was a critical and commercial success and won the Audience Award at the 2012 São Paulo International Film Festival.

Picoli’s most recent feature film, “O Sonho da Amazônia” (The Dream of the Amazon), was released in 2018. The film was a critical and commercial success and won the Audience Award at the 2019 São Paulo International Film Festival.

Throughout his career, Picoli has been recognized for his visual style and for his ability to tell captivating stories. He has been nominated for numerous awards, including the Latin American Film Award for Best Director and the César Award for Best Director.
