Mario Del Curto is an award-winning Swiss-German film director, producer, and cinematographer. He has directed and produced a number of feature-length documentaries, as well as numerous shorts.
Born in 1964 in Chur, Switzerland, Del Curto began his career as a cinematographer, working on both feature films and television shows. After gaining experience in the industry, he shifted to directing and producing his own films.
Del Curto's first feature documentary was “The Death of the Poet” (2000), which explored the life of Swiss poet Ernst Bloch. The film was a success, winning the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival.
Since then, Del Curto has gone on to make several other documentaries. He has collaborated with other filmmakers on projects such as “The Land of the Gods” (2005) and “The Giants” (2008). His latest feature documentary is “The Garden of Dreams” (2011), which tells the story of a man and his lifelong quest to find his true identity.
In addition to his feature films, Del Curto has produced a number of shorts, including “The Red Phone” (2006) and “The Fisherman” (2007). He has also been involved in producing several television programs, including “The Hidden World of the Alps” (2001) and “The Alps: A Journey in Time” (2004).
Del Curto has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Swiss Television Award for Best Documentary in 2008 and the Bavarian Television Award for Best Documentary in 2011.
