Michael Collins is an American director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for his work on the hit television series The O.C. and the feature films P.S. I Love You and The Lucky One.

Born in 1971 in New York City, Collins grew up in a creative family. His mother was a fashion designer and his father an artist. From a young age, he was encouraged to explore his artistic talents and was an avid reader and movie lover.

Collins attended the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where he studied film and television production. He graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

After graduating, Collins began his career as an assistant editor for the Nickelodeon movie Good Burger. He then worked as a freelance editor on various television shows and movies, including X-Men: The Last Stand and The Aviator.

In 2003, Collins was hired to direct the hit television show The O.C. The show was a massive success and was one of the most popular shows on television. Collins won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for his work on the show.

In 2007, Collins made his feature film directorial debut with the romantic comedy P.S. I Love You. The film was a success at the box office and won him critical acclaim. He followed this up with the 2012 drama The Lucky One, starring Zac Efron.

Collins has since gone on to direct several more television shows, including Revenge and The Tomorrow People. He has also produced and written several films and television shows, including the romantic comedy The Vow, starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum.
