Michael Poetschko is an award-winning director and cinematographer from Austria whose work has been featured in various festivals around the world. He graduated from the University of Applied Arts Vienna in 2006 and has since gone on to create a number of critically acclaimed films.

Michael’s first feature film “The Last Summer” (2012) was an immediate success, winning awards at numerous festivals in Europe. The film follows the story of a family in the countryside of Austria and explores the relationship between a father and his son. It was praised for its strong narrative and powerful visuals.

In 2014, Michael directed “A Life of Possibilities”, a documentary about a small village in Austria that is threatened by a local power plant. The film was praised for its intimate portrait of the people’s struggles and the way it captures the beauty and resilience of the village’s inhabitants. It was the winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Cinéma du Réel festival in Paris.

Michael’s other works include “The Road” (2015), a drama about a family’s struggles in a post-apocalyptic world, and “The Forest” (2017), a thriller about a group of young hikers who get lost in the woods. Both films were highly praised for their unique visual style and gripping storytelling.

In addition to directing, Michael has also served as a cinematographer on a number of films, including “The Stranger” (2016), a romantic drama, and “Berlin Wall” (2018), a documentary about the history of the Berlin Wall.
