Nada Riyadh is an award-winning filmmaker and director based in Egypt. She has been making films since 2010 and has since become one of the most respected filmmakers in the region.
Riyadh was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. She studied at the High Cinema Institute, graduating with a degree in Film Directing and Cinematography. She has also taken master classes at the London Film School and the Berlinale Talent Campus.
Riyadh has won several awards for her films, which have been featured at international film festivals including Cannes, Venice, Toronto, and Rotterdam. Her debut feature film, "Ragab and the Mermaid" (2017) won Best Film at the El Gouna Film Festival and Best Narrative Film at the Dubai International Film Festival.
Riyadh’s films often focus on social issues, such as gender inequality and the struggles facing women in Egyptian society. Her second feature film, "The Nest" (2020), tackles the issue of gender roles and the struggle for change. It won the Best Narrative Feature, as well as the Audience Award, at the Cairo International Film Festival.
Riyadh is also committed to using her art to make a difference in the world. She has been involved in several social justice initiatives, including creating the first Arab-based female-led film company, The Nest Productions.
