Niccolò Castelli is an Italian director, producer, and screenwriter. He was born in Rome, Italy, in 1975. He studied at the Rome Academy of Fine Arts, where he received a degree in film direction.
His first feature film, The Last Minute (2007), was presented at the Rome International Film Festival in 2007. His second feature film, The Arrival (2009), was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He has since gone on to direct several other feature films including The Sea (2011), The Great Beauty (2013), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and his most recent release, The Woman Who Left (2016).
In addition to his feature films, Castelli has also directed several short films, including The Last Job (2007), which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Rome International Film Festival, and The Perfect Girl (2012), which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film.
