Nick Bentgen is a film and music video director. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in a large family of seven. After high school, he obtained a degree in journalism from the University of Maryland.
He started his career as a freelance photographer, shooting for magazines, newspapers, and book publishers. After a few years, he decided to focus his attention on music videos, and eventually, he was working with many high-profile artists such as Nine Inch Nails, The Killers, and Beck. His work was featured in a number of music magazines and websites.
In 2005, Nick made his directorial debut with the short film, “The Island of Lost Souls.” The film was well-received and screened at several film festivals, including the Sundance Film Festival. Nick followed up this success with his first feature-length film, “The Education of Charlie Banks,” which was released in 2007. The film earned him a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.
Since then, Nick has gone on to direct a number of music videos and short films. In 2012, he released his second feature film, “The Citizen.” The film won several awards, including the Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature Film at the Los Angeles International Film Festival.
Nick has also directed several television shows. These include “The Son”, a drama series for the AMC Network, and “The Purge”, an anthology series for the USA Network.
Nick is currently in post-production on his third feature film, “The Keeper”. He is also developing several other projects, including a feature film adaptation of the novel “The Nightingale” and a documentary about the music of Baltimore.
