Nolwenn Daste is a French director, screenwriter and producer. She was born in Paris in 1982. She studied film at the University of Paris 8 and subsequently graduated from the prestigious La Femis film school.
Daste began her career as an assistant director on several French films, including "The Returned" (2004) and "The Kidnapping of Michel Houellebecq" (2006). She then wrote and directed her debut feature film, "The Dandelion" (2008), which won numerous awards, including the Grand Prize at the Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival.
In 2010, Daste wrote and directed her second feature film, "The March of the Children", which received numerous awards and critical acclaim. The film follows a group of children who are forced to flee their homes due to a civil war in an unnamed country.
Daste has since directed several short films, including "L'amour est doux" (2012) and "Une histoire d'amour" (2015). She has also directed episodes of the television series "Tales of the City" (2015) and "Versailles" (2016).
In 2018, Daste wrote and directed her third feature film, "Une jeune fille cherche l'amour" (A Young Girl Seeks Love). The film tells the story of a young woman who is searching for love and fulfillment in a world that seems to be increasingly hostile and uncertain.
Throughout her career, Daste has become known for her thoughtful and insightful storytelling, her use of natural light and her strong female characters. She has been lauded for her ability to convey complex emotions and her refusal to shy away from difficult and sometimes controversial topics.
Daste continues to work in the film industry and is currently working on her fourth feature film. She is also a lecturer at La Femis and is passionate about empowering young filmmakers and encouraging them to tell their stories.
