BIO

Omar Camilo Ramos is a Colombian film director and screenwriter. He was born in Medellín, Colombia, in 1981. He studied film production at the University of Antioquia in Medellín.

In 2006, Ramos won an award at the Festival de Cine Iberoamericano de Huelva for his first short film, "The Other Side." This film was followed by two other shorts, "The Night Has No Sense" and "The Trip."

In 2012, Ramos wrote and directed his first feature film, "The Magic of Life," which won awards at various festivals throughout Latin America. This film was followed by the 2014 feature film, "The Fragments of a Dream," which was an official selection at the 65th edition of the Locarno International Film Festival.

In 2016, Ramos was selected to participate in Cannes Cinéfondation's Atelier at the Cannes Film Festival, where he presented the project "The Scent of the Rain." This project was selected to participate in the 2017 Ibermedia Program and was awarded the First Prize at the 19th edition of the Bogotá Short Film Festival.

In 2019, Ramos completed his third feature film, "The Miracle of the Sargasso Sea," which was selected to participate in the 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section. The film has won numerous awards, including the Best Feature Film Award at the 2019 Cartagena International Film Festival.

Ramos is currently working on a fourth feature film which is set to be released in 2021. He has also written and directed various television programs and documentary films.
