BIO

Erez Laufer is an Israeli-born film director, writer, and producer. He has made a name for himself in the Israeli film industry, and is known for his unique blend of drama and comedy.

Erez was born in Tel Aviv in 1976. He studied film at the Sam Spiegel Film & Television School in Jerusalem, and graduated in 2000. After graduating, Erez worked as an editor on a number of television shows, including the popular Israeli drama “Anashim.” In 2003, he directed his first feature film, “Rosh Hashana,” which was well-received by critics and audiences alike.

In 2005, Erez was nominated for the Israeli Ophir Award for Best Director for his second feature, “The Human Resources Manager.” The film was also a critical success, and was nominated for numerous awards, including the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

In 2009, Erez directed his third feature, “The Debt,” which was a critical and commercial success. The movie starred Helen Mirren and was nominated for several awards. It was also selected as the Israeli entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards.

In 2013, Erez wrote and directed his fourth feature, “The Kindergarten Teacher.” The movie starred Maggie Gyllenhaal and was the winner of the Berlin International Film Festival Grand Jury Prize.

Erez has also directed several short films and television episodes. In 2015, he directed an episode of the French series “Les Revenants.”

Erez has also been involved in a number of other projects, including developing the screenplay for an adaptation of the novel “The Lost Boys of Sudan” and producing the Israeli feature “The Testament.”
