Mattia Epifani is an Italian film director and screenwriter best known for his creative and critically acclaimed works. He was born in Rome in 1974 and studied film at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. After graduating, he spent many years writing screenplays for major Italian film companies such as Medusa Film, Warner Bros, and Rai Cinema.

Epifani's directorial debut came in 2002 with the feature film "Sotto il sole di Roma", which was nominated for six David di Donatello Awards. The film was critically acclaimed and gained Epifani much recognition in the Italian film industry. He followed this up with the 2005 drama "L'amore ritorna", which was nominated for three Silver Ribbons and was also highly praised.

In 2008, Epifani directed the romantic comedy "La bella gente", which won the Special Jury Prize at the 2008 Venice Film Festival. This was followed up with the 2010 drama "Il resto della notte", which was nominated for 11 David di Donatello Awards and won the Silver Ribbon for Best Director.

Epifani's latest feature film, "L'odore del sangue", was released in 2013 and was well received by critics. The film tells the story of a Sicilian family struggling to cope with the death of their father. It was nominated for two David di Donatello Awards and won the Silver Ribbon for Best Director.
