Roberto Jorge Ramos is a prominent Brazilian film director, who has made a name for himself in the Brazilian film industry. He has worked both in the independent and mainstream film industries, and has garnered numerous accolades for his work.
Born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, Roberto was passionate about movies and the creative arts from an early age. He studied communication at the Federal University of Bahia, and soon after, he pursued a degree in film directing at the University of São Paulo. He eventually graduated with a degree in cinematography and film direction.
Roberto began his career directing television commercials, before transitioning to feature films. His debut film, “A Passagem” (2004), was a success and earned him the Best Director award at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival. This was followed up with the critically acclaimed “O Sangue dos Outros” (2008), which earned him several awards including Best Film at the Brasilia Film Festival.
In 2012, Roberto released his first mainstream feature film, “7 Dias em Entebbe”, which was based on the 1976 hijacking of an Air France plane. The film earned him multiple awards, including Best Director at the Brasilia Film Festival and the Grand Jury Prize at the São Paulo International Film Festival.
Roberto has gone on to direct several other films, including the romantic drama “O Destino de Júlia” (2013), the coming-of-age drama “Família” (2015), and the crime drama “O Homem da Meia-Noite” (2017). He has also directed episodes of the popular Brazilian television series, “O Negócio” (2013-15).
In addition to his work in film and television, Roberto has also produced several documentaries, including the award-winning “Sobre a Vida e Morte de Lina Bo Bardi” (2011). He is currently working on his next feature film, “Onde Nascem os Monstros”, which is set for release in 2021.
