BIO

Roberto Studart is a Brazilian director, screenwriter and producer. He is best known for his work on films such as The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (2018), The Second Mother (2015) and The Way He Looks (2014).

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Studart always had a passion for film. He studied at the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo and then completed a postgraduate degree in Film Direction at the London Film School.

Studart’s career began in 2002 with the short film A Complete Waste of Time. This was followed in 2004 by his first feature film, The Second Mother, which was selected for the Cannes Film Festival and quickly became a hit. The film was praised for its strong characters and its subtle, sensitive handling of issues such as class, gender and family.

In 2012, Studart directed The Way He Looks, a coming-of-age drama about a visually impaired teenager. The film won numerous awards, including the Teddy Award for Best Feature Film at the Berlin International Film Festival.

In 2018, Studart achieved international recognition with his feature film The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, based on the novel by Miguel de Cervantes. The film tells the story of an advertising executive who gets caught up in a world of fantasy and adventure when he meets an old man who believes he is Don Quixote. The film was nominated for several awards, including the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.

Studart has also been involved in a number of other projects, including the television series The Leftovers (2016) and the documentary film The Uncondemned (2016). He is currently working on the upcoming film A Man of His Word, which is set to be released in 2021.

Studart’s films are known for their thoughtful and complex themes, as well as their strong characters and thoughtful direction. His unique vision has earned him international recognition and critical acclaim. He has come to be regarded as one of the most talented emerging filmmakers of his generation.
