Rodrigo Carneiro is a Brazilian film director, producer and screenwriter. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1965. His father was a film producer, and his mother was a social worker.
Carneiro started making short films when he was just 15 years old. His first film, “Amarelo” (Yellow) won a prize at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival. After that, he went on to study film in France and the United States.
Carneiro has directed several feature films since his debut in 1990. His most successful films include “A Casa das Sete Mulheres” (The House of Seven Women, 2003) and “O Menino Maluquinho” (The Crazy Kid, 2006). Both films were nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
He has also produced several television series, including “Cidade dos Sonhos” (City of Dreams, 2003) and “A Ilha dos Cães” (The Island of Dogs, 2006).
