Rozálie Kohoutová (born 7 November 1967) is a Czech film and television director. She is best known for her work on the television series The White Room (2006–2007), The Great War (2009), and most recently, The Pied Piper (2014).
Kohoutová was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia and studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU). She graduated in 1992 with a degree in directing. After graduation, Kohoutová worked as an assistant director on several Czech films. In 1998, she made her feature film debut with the drama film The Age of Reason, which won the Czech Lion Award for Best Film.
Kohoutová's subsequent films have also been successful. Her 2002 drama, The Moth, won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival and was nominated for a Czech Lion Award. Her 2004 drama, The Way Things Are, won the Czech Lion Award for Best Film.
In 2006, Kohoutová directed the television series The White Room, which was nominated for a Czech Lion Award. She also directed the 2009 miniseries The Great War, which won the Czech Lion Award for Best Television Series.
Kohoutová's most recent work is the 2014 television series The Pied Piper, which was nominated for a Czech Lion Award. Kohoutová has also directed several music videos and short films. She has also written and produced several films and television series.
Kohoutová's films have won numerous awards and have been screened at festivals around the world. She is a respected figure in the Czech film industry and is one of the few female directors in the country. Her work has been praised for its strong female characters and depiction of life in the Czech Republic.
Kohoutová is married to Czech journalist and writer Robert Horký. They have two children together. She currently lives in Prague and continues to work in the film and television industry.
