Sergey Kozmin is a Russian film director. He was born in 1965 in the city of Leningrad. He graduated from the Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in 1991.
Kozmin started his career as an assistant director on several feature films, including “The Assa” (1993) and “The Thief” (1996). Following this he wrote and directed his first feature, “The Island of Love” (1998). This was followed by “The Snow Queen” (2000), “The Mystery of the Third Planet” (2004), “The Best Movie” (2005), and “The Space Between Us” (2007).
In 2010, Kozmin wrote and directed the critically acclaimed drama “The Return”. The film follows the story of a young man who returns to his home village after a long absence and finds that his father has died. The film was an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Golden Eagle Award for Best Picture.
Kozmin has also worked as a producer on several projects, including the short film “The Night of the Poets” (2009), which won the Grand Prix at the Moscow International Film Festival.
