Simon Rouby is a French director, born in 1977 in Paris. He is known for his award-winning short films and his feature film, “The Little Prince” (2015).
Rouby’s passion for film began as a child, when he was fascinated by the work of directors such as Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick. He attended film school at the University of Paris, where he earned his bachelor's degree in film directing.
Rouby began his career directing short films, such as “La Vie Toute Simple” (2008) and “Aurora” (2010). His short films have won awards at various film festivals, including the Los Angeles International Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, and the Toronto International Film Festival.
In 2015, Rouby made his feature film debut with “The Little Prince,” an adaptation of the beloved children’s book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. The film was a critical and commercial success, and was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature.
In addition to directing, Rouby has worked as a producer, writer, and editor. He has produced films such as “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” (2013) and “The Book of Life” (2014). He has also written and edited several short films, including “The Last Stop” (2012) and “The Edge of Heaven” (2014).
Rouby is currently working on his next feature film, “The House of Tomorrow,” which is set to be released in 2018. He is also developing an animated series for Netflix, called “The Dreamers.”
