Tuna Kaptan is a Turkish film director, producer, and screenwriter best known for her work in the television and film industry. She is one of the most influential directors in Turkish cinema, and her films have achieved both critical and commercial success.

Kaptan was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1972. She studied film directing at the Ankara University of Art and Design in Turkey, and then went on to receive her master's degree in film directing at the University of California, Los Angeles in the United States.

Kaptan is best known for her work in the television and film industry. She directed her first feature film, “Yüksek Sosyete” (High Society), in 2004. The film was an international success and won numerous awards, including the Audience Award at the Istanbul International Film Festival.

In 2006, Kaptan directed “Köprüdekiler” (The Bridge People), a drama set in Istanbul. The film was also a success, winning the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2009, Kaptan directed “Kosmos” (Cosmos), a science-fiction drama set on a distant planet.
