Pavel Koutecký is a Czech film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his films My Father's Bike (2012), The Way Out (2014), and The Painted Bird (2019).
Koutecký was born in Prague, Czech Republic in 1967. He began his film career in the late 1980s, working as an assistant director on several Czech films. In 1992, he wrote and directed his first short film, The Way Home, which won a Silver Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival.
Koutecký's first feature film, My Father's Bike, was released in 2012 and earned him critical acclaim. The film tells the story of a father and son's relationship and was a huge success in the Czech Republic. It was nominated for six Czech Lion awards, including Best Film and Best Director, and won two.

The film tells the story of a young Jewish boy who is separated from his parents during World War II and must fend for himself in a hostile environment.
