Pavel Koutecký is a Czech film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his films My Father's Bike (2012), The Way Out (2014), and The Painted Bird (2019).

Koutecký was born in Prague, Czech Republic in 1967. He began his film career in the late 1980s, working as an assistant director on several Czech films. In 1992, he wrote and directed his first short film, The Way Home, which won a Silver Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival.

Koutecký's first feature film, My Father's Bike, was released in 2012 and earned him critical acclaim. The film tells the story of a father and son's relationship and was a huge success in the Czech Republic. It was nominated for six Czech Lion awards, including Best Film and Best Director, and won two.

In 2014, Koutecký released his second feature film, The Way Out. The film follows a group of people who try to escape from a repressive regime in Eastern Europe. It was nominated for the Grand Prix at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and won the Audience Award.

Koutecký's third feature film, The Painted Bird, was released in 2019. The film tells the story of a young Jewish boy who is separated from his parents during World War II and must fend for himself in a hostile environment. The film was a critical success and won the Grand Prix at the Venice Film Festival.

Koutecký's films often explore themes of oppression and survival in a hostile environment. He has won several awards for his work, including two Czech Lions, a Prix du Jury at the Cannes Film Festival, and the Grand Prix at the Venice Film Festival.

Koutecký's films have made him one of the most prominent directors in the Czech Republic. He is currently working on his fourth feature film, which is set to be released in 2021.
